We are honored to announce that Iehiro Tokugawa, the 19th Head of the Tokugawa House and Chairman of the Tokugawa Memorial Foundation, will join us as our guest speaker. His succession on January 1, 2023 marked the first transition of leadership in nearly six decades, carrying forward one of Japan’s most historic lineages.
We invite you to a special lecture with Mr. Tokugawa as he examines his family’s historical role in shaping Japan’s political and cultural identity. His talk will consider the continuities between Japan’s past and present, and how the Tokugawa legacy continues to inform Japan’s trajectory in the modern world.

Mr. Tokugawa holds an MA in economics from the University of Michigan, has served with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, and is widely recognized for his translations of leading global voices, including Tony Blair, George Soros, and Amy Chua, into Japanese. As an author and cultural figure, he continues to bridge history, scholarship, and international dialogue.
