Merry Little Christmas Eve
Online Jazz Event with Steve Sacks ’75
Due to COVID-19, this year’s “little” Christmas Eve is probably unlike any we can remember. How to spend it enjoyably and safely? Leave it to jazz musicians like long-time Tokyo resident Steve Sacks to find a way to bring you holiday cheer. In the spirit of the season, he’s put together an international group of some of Japan’s finest jazz musicians for a program of Christmas favorites such as “Silent Night” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. He’ll also be sharing (in Japanese) how New York jazzmen like former colleague Jerome Harris ’73 have navigated the challenges of the past year, and will even do a virtual performance with three other friends from the Big Apple!
From his early days as the first sax section leader of the Harvard Jazz Band, multi-instrumentalist and arranger Steve has gone on to perform around the world with likes of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, David Byrne, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic among many others, and recorded on well over 100 albums. www.stevesacks.com
