 東京大学グローバルヘルス・リーダーシップ・プログラム（GHLP）は、今春、デイビッド・パーキンズ氏（ハーバード大学教育大学院教授）と佐藤学氏（東京大学名誉教授・学習院大学文学部教授）をお迎えし、以下の要領でシンポジウムを開催いたします。米国と日本をそれぞれ代表する二人の教育学者が対話する貴重な機会となりますので、ぜひご参加をご検討いただけますようお願い申し上げます。

The Global Health Leadership Program (GHLP) at the University of Tokyo is honored to host this symposium delivered by the world leading educators Dr. David Perkins (Professor at Harvard University, Graduate School of Education) and Dr. Manabu Sato (Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, Professor at Gakushuin University, Faculty of Letters). We welcome anyone who is interested in exploring the world of future learning and teaching, as it will be a valuable opportunity to learn from a dialogue between the nation representing and the world leading educators from the United States and Japan.

ご登壇者 / Speakers

David Perkins氏は、ハーバード大学教育大学院の教授であり、学習・教授法の研究などで世界的に知られる教育学者です。ハーバード大学教育大学院の研究開発拠点でもあるプロジェクト・ゼロの設立者でもあり、現在もシニア・ディレクターとして活躍しています。Perkins氏が1990年代に開発した「理解のためのティーチング（Teaching for Understanding）」のフレームワークと教育手法は世界中の教師に活用されており、実践を通じて現在も進化し続けています。今回のシンポジウムでは、Perkins氏の40年の研究成果をふまえた上で、真の理解をもたらすティーチングとは何か、「考える力」を育てることはいかに可能か、予測できない未来に向けて何をどのように教育していくべきか、等のテーマを中心にご講演いただきます。

David Perkins is the Carl H. Pforzheimer, Jr. Research Professor of Teaching and Learning at Harvard Graduate School of Education. Recently retired from senior faculty, Perkins is a founding member and senior co-director of Project Zero, an R&D institute operating for more than 35 years at HGSE. He has spoken and published widely on the themes of thinking, understanding and learning. He is the author of several well-known books, including Making Learning Whole, Smart Schools,Outsmarting IQ, The Eureka Effect, and King Arthur’s Round Table.

佐藤学氏は学習院大学教授、東京大学名誉教授であり、ハーバード大学の客員教授（２００２年）、エル・コレヒオ・デ・メヒコ招聘教授（２００１年）、ベルリン自由大学招聘教授（２００６年）を歴任。日本教育学会元会長、全米教育アカデミー会員、アメリカ教育学会名誉会員でもある。学校と教師の文化、カリキュラムと教師教育を焦点とする諸問題を対象として、現実の教室で展開されている授業の事例研究、日米の学校の比較研究、および、米国のカリキュラムの歴史研究を行う。内外の実践から得た知見と理論をバックに授業改革・学校改革に参画、研究者として欧米でも高い評価を受ける。著書と論文は数多く、その多くが中国語、韓国語、英語、ドイツ語、フランス語、スペイン語、インドネシア語に翻訳されて出版されている。主な著書として、『米国カリキュラム改造史研究』（東京大学出版会），『教育方法学』『授業研究入門』『教育改革をデザインする』『「学び」から逃走する子どもたち』『学力を問い直す』（以上岩波書店，『授業研究入門』は共著），『教師というアポリア』『学びの快楽』（以上世織書房），『身体のダイアローグ』（太郎次郎社，対談集）『教師たちの挑戦』（小学館）など。

Professor Manabu Sato is a professor at Gakushuin University and an Emeritus Professor of The University of Tokyo. He was a visiting professor to the Harvard University in 2002, and an invited professor of El Colegio de Mexico in 2001 and Berlin Free University in 2006. He is also the Past President of Japanese Educational Research Association, a member of National Education Academy and an Inaugural Fellow of American Educational Research Association. Professor Sato has worked extensively and intensively with many schools and school leaders in Japan and is widely known for his studies on curriculum and teacher education. Many of his books and papers are translated to Chinese, Korean, English, German, Spanish, French and Indonesian.
