Global Forum 2019: IGNITE Japan!

Global Citizens Initiative (GCI) is holding its annual event internationally for the first time in Tokyo next month.

Prominent educators, corporate leaders and policy makers will gather to discuss breakthrough ideas on becoming global citizens and agents of positive change, including Yumi Kuwana, President and Founder, Global Citizens Initiative; Dr. Linda Hill, Professor at Harvard Business School and expert on Innovation & Global Leadership; Kazuo Hirai, former Chairman, Sony Corporation; Kathy Matsui, Vice-Chair, Goldman Sachs Japan Co., Ltd; and Seiji Inagaki, President, Dai-ichi Life Holdings, Inc.

“Japan must do a better job educating our students and preparing them for active participation in the global community,” said Wakana Tanaka, Head of Google Partner Plex Tokyo, who will serve as the Global Forum’s Master of Ceremonies.“ The GCI Global Forum will be a major step in opening a dialogue and initiating change by fostering the exchange of new ideas between presenters and attendees at the conference. I could not be more honored to be part of the event and facilitate the conversations.”

With a focus on the next generation in Japan, the Global Forum will explore innovative solutions on how to prepare Japanese students to address their country’s challenges and have meaningful careers within a global community. The Global Forum is the culmination of a ten-day academically intensive Summit, where secondary school students from around the world explore global issues through the lenses of engagement, ethics, excellence and leadership.
