Tomo Hamakawa, AB 2002 and MPP 2008, is kindly introduced this award by his company Earth Company in Bali.
Earth Company selects one exceptional change-maker a year (whom we call an Impact Hero) from the Asia Pacific region and we are now accepting nominations for our next Impact Hero whom we will deliver customize support over three years!
Just like the three predecessors - Bella Galhos ('15), Robin Lim ('16), and Kathy Jetñil-Kijiner ('17) - our next Impact Hero is expected to not only serve as an agent of hope for their own communities, but also inspire those who come to understand their life work.
We are looking for those individuals who currently don’t have sufficient access to opportunities and resources, but could significantly deepen and expand their impact if provided with the right mix of support from Earth Company.

Future-oriented: Ambitious drive to achieve a paradigm shift in the environment and society
Passionate: Blazing passion, energy, and conviction
Inspirational: Special ability to inspire people around the world
Leadership: Natural magnetism to attract and mobilize supporters
Grounded: Deep trust and respect from the community
Who is eligible?
To be eligible, a nominee must be:
• actively involved in tackling major social and/or environmental challenges in the developing countries of the Asia Pacific;
• serving on the leadership team of a social-purpose organization;
• committed to the cause long-term;
• able to communicate with the Earth Company team in English (or Japanese) regularly by email and phone;
• aligned with the vision and values of Earth Company;
Earth Company is agnostic about number of years in operation, organizational maturity, sectoral focus, nationality, age, gender and academic credentials. For-profit companies and nonprofit organizations – and everything in between – are eligible.
What kind of support do we provide?
Our support package includes:
① tailor-made fundraising (US$ 100k-200k)
② opportunity building
③ nonprofit management coaching

Sounds amazing! How do I apply/make a nomination?
Nominations can be submitted either through our website or by sending the following information to impact-hero@earthcompany.info:
• Nominator's name
• Nominator's email
• Nominee's name
• Nominee's mission
• Reasons for nomination (one paragraph)
Self-nominations will be accepted, and all nominations should be submitted by September 30, 2017. And if you want to ask us anything before making a nomination, feel free to send us an email, also at impact-hero@earthcompany.info.
