Vino Veritas Dinner with Exclusive Champagne Boërl & Kroff

Taste the champagne of Charles de Gaulle at the new ANDAZ Hotel chef's studio

The Harvard Club of Japan is pleased to present an evening with Patrick Sabaté, founder of Champagne Boërl & Kroff at the newly opened ANDAZ Hotel private dining room.

Described as a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, the Boerl & Kroff champagne is being compared to the likes of Carlton Ritz’ 907 vintage and Perrier-Jouet’s limited edition for the title of the world’s most exclusive and expensive champagne.

The Boërl & Kroff cuvées were born on a unique parcel of land on the sloping terrain of Urville, France, owned by the Drappier family. This land, totalling a minute one hectare, once was reserved for the production of Charles de Gaulle’s favorite special cuvée and it often served at the General`s private dinners at the Elysee Palace.

Similar to top cuvees, only the best years of Champagne Boërl & Kroff are produced. For this reason, only the following vintages were released by Boërl & Kroff: 1995, 1996, 1998, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2009, subject to the wines’ development. Only 3,000 bottles are produced each year. Champagne Boërl & Kroff exists in magnum and larger bottles only: Jeroboam (3 litres), Methuselah (6 litres) and Melchizedek (30 litres). Each magnum is numbered, and its disgorgement date is also shown. These magnums are composed of 70% black Pinot and 30% Chardonay from the best Aube vineyards, and are cleared of sediment before final corking in an effort to develop unique tastes and variants. The champagne also uses a natural five-piece cork for longer wine preservation, a lacquered wooden box, and a bowl by a renowned French manufacturer. It is this process that the manufacturers claim makes Boerl & Kroff one of the world’s most costly champagnes.

Please join us to enjoy this rare and exclusive champagne at the chef's private studio at the ANDAZ Hotel. Space is limited, so please sign up early to reserve your seat using the RSVP to the right.
