最近、ESG投資の急増を背景に、"Responsible" business（CSRを含め） がよく話題になりますが、具体的にはどのようなものでしょうか。実は、決して新しい概念ではありません。本セミナーでは、HBSのジェフリー・ジョーンズ教授のサステイナブル・アントレプレナーシップの研究から導き出された歴史的な実例から学びます。

渋沢栄一を含む日本のリーダーを含め、19世紀から現代までの人物に焦点を当てて、ビジネスリーダーの「深い責任」について議論をしていきます。

In today’s world, as ESG investment increases sharply, “responsible” business (including CSR) is often discussed—but what exactly does it mean? Though “responsible” business seems more prevalent today, it is not a new concept. Join the HBS Club of Japan with the esteemed Professor Geoffrey Jones to learn about real historical examples, drawn from Professor Jones’s research on sustainable entrepreneurship. 

We will discuss the “deep responsibility” of business leaders, focusing on certain individuals from the nineteenth century until the present day, including Japanese leaders such as Eiichi Shibusawa.

Professor Geoffrey Jones

Isidor Straus Professor of Business History, HBS

Geoffrey Jones is the Isidor Straus Professor of Business History, and Faculty Chair of the School's Business History Initiative. He holds degrees of BA, MA and PhD from Cambridge University, UK. Relevant to Japan, he was a Visiting Professorship at Gakushuin University, Tokyo, is an Affiliate Professor of Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto, and serves on the Faculty Committee of the Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies.

ジェフリー・ジョーンズは、イシドール・ストラウス教授（ビジネス史）であり、ビジネス史イニシアチブのファカルティの議長を務めています。イギリスのケンブリッジ大学で学士、修士、博士号を取得しています。日本では、学習院大学（東京）の客員教授、立命館大学（京都）の客員教授、ライシャワー日本研究所の教授会メンバーを務めています。
