Harvard Book Prize program honors top juniors at over 1,900 high schools worldwide including several in Japan
Jonathan Harlow, Events Director and Member of the Board of the Harvard Club of Japan recently presented to Haruka Ono of Shibuya Kyoiku Gakuen’s Shibuya Senior High School the annual Harvard Book Prize, an award presented annually at more than 1,900 high schools around the world (including several in Japan) to outstanding students in the next-to-graduating class, who demonstrate excellence in academics and achievement in extracurricular areas. Every year, the faculty of each high school participating in the Prize program selects one recipient from the junior class (Grade 11) to receive this award recognizing their remarkable accomplishments both inside and outside of the classroom.
This year’s Harvard Book Prize award book was: Deng Xiaoping and the Transformation of China, by Ezra F. Vogel (Henry Ford II Professor of the Social Sciences Emeritus at Harvard)
