Reception for Students and Faculty of H-Lab Summer Program

Third annual program introducing Japanese high school students to liberal arts education, taught by Harvard undergrads

 H-LAB invites all members of the Harvard community to join us on August 17, 2013 to celebrate the third annual summer school organized by Harvard College Japan Initiative (HCJI) and Liberal Arts Beyond Borders (LAB) here in Tokyo. 

The objective of H-LAB is to broaden high school participants’ perspectives towards universities and towards their future careers through interaction with students from Harvard College and various universities all around the world. About forty current Harvard undergrads will visit Japan to teach seminars in their proficiencies allowing Japanese high school students to experience a liberal arts style education of Harvard College. 

We hope that this reception will provide an opportunity for both participating high school and college students to interact with Harvard alumni who are pursing their interests in various fields.


Date:      August 17th (Saturday) from 18:00-20:00 (Door Opens at 17:45)
Venue:   National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS)
       Dining Hall (1st Floor)
       7-22-1 Roppongi, Minato-Ku, Tokyo, 106-8677
       5 minute walk from Roppongi Station (Oedo Line exit 7) and adjacent to the National Art Center (http://www.grips.ac.jp/about/access.html)

Cost:      Donation is welcomed at the door. (Suggested donation: 3000JPY~)

In addition, you are also invited to the opening and closing ceremonies of the program. (All events will be held at GRIPS Lecture Hall)

MORE ABOUT H-LAB
   

In addition to our flagship program in Tokyo, H-LAB has launched the second program in partnership with Obuse-machi, Nagano, and will hold two summer schools targeted at Japanese high school students this August.

Participants will also be taking part in lectures and workshops led by distinguished speakers such as the Honorable Taro Kono of the House of Representatives, Professor Hitoshi Murayama of the University of Tokyo, and Professor Hirotaka Takeuchi of the Harvard Business School.In addition, cultural events, talent shows, and many other events will allow high school students help Harvard students better understand Japan.
