Brown Club of Japan invites Harvard alumni to an exciting event on Friday, October 10th, 2014. It is a film screening of “Never Sorry”, a documentary about Ai Weiwei, directed and produced by Alison Klayman Brown Class of ’06. Ai Weiwei is one of China’s leading artists, and since the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, he has gained recognition as an outspoken activist and critic. While his comments and actions are closely followed by the international press and the Chinese government, his artwork has been exhibited around the world including in a major solo show at the Mori Art Museum in 2009. “Never Sorry” won a Special Jury Prize when it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and it was shortlisted for the Best Documentary Academy Award in 2013. The film is currently nominated in two categories for the 2014 News & Documentary Emmys.

The event will be held at Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown in the resident lounge. The event will start at 7:00pm with a screening of the film (90 minutes) followed by a Q&A with Alison and time for socializing. Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown has been generous in providing the lounge space as well as light food and drinks. An entrance fee of 1,000 Yen will be charged to help offset some of these costs.

RESERVATION:  Seating is limited to 50 people, so please reserve at the following address if you plan to attend: neversorry@bucj.org.
